The Special Deputy Sheriffs, like full-time Deputies, are professionally trained and duly sworn law enforcement personnel. Reserve Deputy Sheriffs are utilized to supplement the Athens County Sheriff’s Office’s duties and goals. Special Deputy Sheriffs are tasked with the same responsibilities as other personnel as needed.
