Although I was born in Philippi, West Virginia, I have lived most of my 65 years in Athens, Ohio. After graduating from Albany High School in Albany, Ohio, I enlisted in the U.S.A.F from 1976-79 with tours in Japan and South Korea.
Upon returning home, I met and married my wife of 42 years and we have a 41 year old son who is married and lives in Cleveland, Ohio.
I worked for Texas Eastern Transmission for 22 years and recently retired from Ohio University after nearly 20 years. I earned two degrees from Hocking College and a B.A. from Ohio University while also working full time.
Last year, my wife and I attended a Citizens Academy which sparked an interest within me that hasn’t abated. After retiring in July 2012, my wife and I started volunteering in the Sheriff’s Office which led to enrolling in the Athens County Sheriff’s Academy and soon thereafter, I received a job with the Sheriff’s Office as a Concealed Carry Clerk and helping in the evidence room. Who knows where this unabated curiosity and interest will all end. I do know one thing, this is a great place to work if you want to serve your community, learn new skills and have fun doing it.
